Maya Dimopoulou

Maya Dimopoulou was born in Athens. In 2001 she graduated from the Higher Professional School of Dance "Niki Kontaxaki”. She holds diplomas of the Flamenco Dance Society. She has participated in seminars of Classical and Contemporary Dance, Rhythmic-Musicomotor Education and pedagogical seminars of Kinetic Creativity.

She has also been part of classical and contemporary dance performances with the groups: Terpsichore, A Kin (seminar-performance), the choreography of Eni Makri, children's companies, Katerina Rodiou's group, Nikis Kontaxaki's Classical and Contemporary Dance group. She has danced in works such as: "Swan Lake", "Sylphida", "Nutcracker", "Sylphides", "Coppelia", "Sleeping Beauty" and others.

Since 2007, she has taken over the direction of the school of Maria Konstantinidis Sakka. Under her artistic direction, Maya Demopoulou has staged performances of classical and contemporary repertoire, such as "Bayadera", "Giselle", "Don Quixote", "Coppelia", "Alice in Wonderland", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "7 Deadly Sins", "The Little Prince", "The Nightingale and the Rose”. The School takes part in dance festivals, competitions, performances and charity events.

She has collaborated with renowned choreographers and dancers: Maria Anthymidou Natassa Papamichael, Tasos Bekiaris, Michalis Kriembardis, Vasiliki Kikna, Triantafyllos Karamanidis, Alexandros Stavropoulos, Yannis Karounis, Vicky Isaakidou, Giordano Bozza, Antonis Koroutis, Danilo Zeka, Stratos Papanousis, Charis Kousios, Christos Xyfarakis, Iris Fusteris.

She interacts and explores techniques with other dance groups such as "Load" by choreographer Tasos Bekiaris, with whom they have staged the work "EPI_SKEPSI" at the Altera Pars Theatre. Maya Demopoulou participates as a dancer, choreographer and kinesiologist in visual arts performances, theatre works and dance theatre events.

Indicatively: kinesiology in the performance "SAVE" (conception-text-direction Katerina Papadakis), at the Romance multi-purpose space, in the project of Lina Theodorou "Save the Pensioner - The Amazing Board Games Club" in the context of the Greek/Swiss art exhibition TWISTING C(R)ASH. Kinesiology in the theatrical play "Zero Memory" text by Katerina Papadakis Co-directed with Zafiris Haitidis. Two graduates of the school (Vicky Rontogianni and Elena Mylonas) take part in the theatrical performance.

She has danced and choreographed together with the dancer-choreographer Lefteris Agiokatsikasika the dance-theatre performance "Interior" (concept-text-direction by Katerina Papadakis) which was presented at the Aplika multi-purpose space in the solo exhibition of Elpida Kalatzi's paintings entitled "From a Distance" (curated by Ioanna Mirka).
