TASOS BEKIARIS
Tasos Bekiaris - Choreographer
He is born in Athens with a great desire for interactive communication with art and people. He is trained in different dance genres such as jazz, contemporary jazz, hip hop, musical, as well as in contemporary dance techniques such as ‘release’ and Limon by distinguished teachers in the field. He attended seminars on Dance Therapy and Choreology with Zoe Paneriti and Katia Savrami respectively.
Since 2004, he has been teaching Hip Hop and contemporary dance at senior professional and amateur ballet schools, as well as dance studios, while he also delivers seminar courses in many regions of the country.
He has collaborated for many years with Georgia Konstantina Atsambou for the elaboration of research projects concerning visualisation of space, specifically in the scientific field of "Architecture - Space Design", within the framework of the postgraduate program of the Department of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens.
In the summer of 2015, he participates as the National Greek Participation in the International Exhibition of Scenography and Theatre Architecture in Prague (The Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, PQ 2015), in the framework of the Competitive Section of the Educational Departments (Student). The team consists of Drs. G. Atzambou, Chr. Karadima, professors K. Savrami, G. Parmenidis and the supervisor Th. Vovolis.
As a dancer and choreographer he has worked with the L.A.G group for 3 years in New York and with Maria Lazari's Choronde as part of the Dance Festival of the Greek Choreographers Association.
He has also been a judge of dance competitions in dance federations both in Greece and abroad, most recently participating in the Teenage Grand Prix in Russia.
In 2012 he founds the LOAD Dance Company.
LOAD Dance Company conceived as an idea on June 7th 2013 with his conception, Direction and Choreography of his visionary and acclaimed Dance Theater Play “Anasfallo”. (Screenplay by Christina Mitropoulou). His first attempt was welcomed with such a success by Critics and Audience, only to verify to him the Goal of his dream: InterACTion with Viewers through his Art, and expand his acceptance for his Artistic point of view.
In November of the same year the “Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation” trust him and provide him the opportunity to lay a “new prespective” by giving him the Central Stage to Re-Present his Dance Theater Play in the form of “Anasfallo-Revised” In continuum of the Acceptance of his Dance Theater Play “Anasfallo Revised” on February 2014 a Photograph Exhibition will take place in “Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation” by brothers Petros & Konstantinos Sofikitis inspired by the play. The “Anasfallo-Revised” Photo Exhibition will be the Opening Ceremony for the Exhibition to follow. LOAD Dance Company team alongside Tasos Bekiaris will provide a visual approach.
From 2014 till December 2015 having achieved the initial goals of his newfound Team (LOAD), Tasos will start to plan the next step of his vision, non-other than to interact through his art and to communicate dance mentally, spiritually, sentimentally by his artistic evolution. This complex of ideas born the Main Guideline that will keep him in the greed till now, As mention above he will Organize a Seminar Circle with introductive, research & experimental point of view.
Early 2016 “LOAD” chooses artists from different backgrounds and levels of education (professionals, amateurs, students) in order to participate in six (6) months course of contemporary dance, theatrical expression / acting and psychodrama (therapeutic support through acting). The Founder of LOAD (Tasos) includes in this effort Aclaimed Professionals from various fields (Teachers, Actors, Dancers) to contribute to a wider area of education wherever it could be applied. The thought behind the choice of various artists with various levels of education was to combine the heterogeneity of the group to the main result witch was none other than, to project the people’s day to day activities and feelings through the Art of Dancing. The result from this concept was a theatrical presentation of the play “Human X Y” in “Argo” Theater on June 2016. (Screenplay- by: Eleutheria Monastiraki – Vrana. Choreography: Anastasios Bekiaris).
• January 2016 “Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation” invites him to Direct and Choreograph the play “A Ballad of Prison”, based on the LP of the music group “Kollektiva”.
• May 2017 “LOAD” Dance Company presents the play “Stizo” (c.c: punctuation mark) in “Anesis” Theater. The play was received warmly among Critics and Viewers as a Bold Move in Theater Area. “The ultimate deconstruction of dancing movements, constructs the ultimate play in a most resourceful, realistic and unexpected way” was some of the reviews.
• January 2018 “LOAD” presents the play “Epi Skepsi” (c.c: The Visit) a twisted and fresh view inspired by the acclaimed play of Charles Dickens “A Christmas Carol”. This play was a result of 7 month period educational course, trying to bind different elements of dancing to a dipper perspective of Dance Theater. September 2019 “LOAD” Dance Company finds a permanent House. The Official Space of LOAD that resulted as constant Educational School till today by the Team (Tasos, Georgia and Katerina).
2022- Art Director In 2021 Tasos inspired “ROOM”.
The concept of his idea found grounds that led to The 1st Dance Theater Festival of Athens – 2022, with wide participation of Local Dance groups as well from abroad. The festival was held in “ARROYO” Theater. LΣY Method. (Tasos Quote) …After 20+ years of experience I couldn’t help but wonder what is my next step. I combine all my experience and feelings from my professional career in Greece and Abroad as well my personal life and I create the LΣΥ Method as an obligation to my art and how it kept me through everything. In 2021 he suggests the LΣY Method as an eight (8) month Course to a group of Dancers as a new / alternative approach of the Dancing Body.. The Body .. The Instrument to express happiness, sadness, claim, loss and forgiveness or whatever anyone may feel. With Contemporary Dance as a Guideline he aims to change the performance process. Through personalized experiential way he manages to value the personal elements of every individual participated and they subjective skills.
• (Fall Season) 2022 He Produce, Directs and Coreograph the play “SARAGINI” in “ARROYO” Theater. The play was based on the LΣΥ Method.
• January 2023 He introduce the Second Season of the LΣΥ Method Course.
• December 2023 he carries out an Introduction Seminar of the LΣΥ Method to students of the “Lykeion ton Ellinidon” in Heraklion
In May 2018 he appears on the stage of the National Theatre in the leading role of John the Baptist in the performance "Salome" directed by Stavros Litinas.
In July 2019 he takes part as a dancer in the musical-theatrical play by Reppa - Papathanasiou "Our own cinema" choreographed by Fokas Evagelinou.
In September 2019, he creates together with his colleagues, the official LOAD space, in the context of which the educational section of the group starts.
In January 2023, the second workshop of the LHC method is held.
In 2023 he participates as a choreographer - dancer in the creative team of the opening ceremony of the Mediterranean Coastal Games "Heraklion 2023".
"Many images in my mind... Many words that find correspondence... The only thing I know for sure is that I want to awaken people and unearth their most hidden thoughts... Because that's where I believe the truth of each of us lies... In phrases that may never have found their way into words... It's not the Others' fault... It's me, you, us, everyone...I do not want to present a rosy world because for me it does not exist...I choose the harsh reality that no matter how much it "throws up" we have to deal with it... Of course it is none other than our own Human Nature. This need to create makes me responsible for my continuous education on the field of dance, theatre and art in general."
